In a move that may have significant implications for Ghana's youth employment landscape, Kofi Baah Agyepong has officially resigned as the Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), effective January 24, 2025.¹

Agyepong's decision to step down was conveyed in a resignation letter to President John Dramani Mahama, in which he cited personal commitments and aspirations as the primary reason for his departure. Reflecting on his tenure, Agyepong expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve, describing his experience as "an honour and a privilege".

During his two-year stint as CEO, Agyepong oversaw several initiatives aimed at tackling youth unemployment and promoting vocational and entrepreneurial skills development. His leadership played a crucial role in shaping the agency's response to the pressing issue of youth unemployment in Ghana.

As Agyepong prepares to hand over the reins, he has assured a smooth transition, indicating that he will remain available to address any urgent matters that may arise. The agency's future successes, he believes, are assured, thanks to the solid foundation laid during his tenure.

Agyepong's resignation marks the beginning of a new chapter for the YEA, and speculation is already rife about who will succeed him. As the agency continues to play a vital role in addressing youth unemployment, all eyes will be on the incoming CEO to build on Agyepong's legacy and drive further progress.
