The academic journey of teacher trainees in Ghana is set to follow a revised schedule for the 2024/2025 academic year. This update comes after recent adjustments aimed at ensuring a smooth flow of activities across the 47 public Colleges of Education. The revised calendar outlines key dates and activities for Levels 100, 200, 300, and 400 students, providing a roadmap for the academic year.
The adjustment reflects the commitment of the Ministry of Education and stakeholders to resolve challenges and streamline the academic calendar. Teacher trainees and stakeholders are encouraged to familiarize themselves with these changes to ensure a successful academic year.
The academic year kicks off with a focus on Level 400 students, who will participate in macro-teaching orientation. From 11th to 15th November 2024, Level 400 students will report to their respective campuses to prepare for their teaching practice. On 15th November 2024, they will begin their school attachment phase, marking the start of hands-on teaching practice.
For Levels 100, 200, and 300, the first semester begins on 27th January 2025 and runs until 18th April 2025. This 12-week period will be dedicated to academic work, giving students ample time to engage in their coursework. Following the semester, end-of-semester examinations will take place from 21st April to 2nd May 2025 over a two-week period.
After the examinations, a semester break is scheduled for Levels 100, 200, and 300 students from 3rd May to 14th June 2025. This six-week break will allow students to recharge and prepare for the second semester.
